Brass Monkey Winter Travellers Series 2007: Final Results
![]() |
Mark, winner of the Brass Monkey 07 |
A total of 15 races were sailed over 6 events in the series.
Weather featured more than 2006 with several dates being moved to bypass inbound cold fronts. The series was won convincingly by Mark Winters. With his name in the series title already this was hardly surprising.
However, hats off to this victory as Mark overcame pneumonia and a back injury during the series and it was noted that he could only just walk after the final race. A lesson to us all in that your boat and your body can be falling to pieces but its how you sail that counts.
Notice to Shirley .. the two bottles of Rum donated for first prize by Pauaware should be placed in the 'medicine' cabinet immediately.
Matt Hall-Smith crewed in all but one of the series races by his son Hamish came second with Steve Tennant third. The fleet was joined by new faces Fergus Thompson crewed on occaission by his daughter Meg and also Ray Hall who has taken over the reigns of 'the Planet'. There was also a welcome outing by Murray Boucher at Weymouth.
Thanks to all who joined in the racing and the clubs that hosted us !
